What the check next to a name actually means.
A verified badge on Collabbo means a person has had their identity and at least one claimed piece of work confirmed against a documented source. Here is the whole standard, in plain language.
The principles
The check is about identity and record, not quality
Verification says a person is who they claim to be and did what they say they did. It is never a judgement on how good the work is, and it is never for sale.
Every discipline is held to the same bar
A songwriter, a novelist, a line producer, a colourist, and a financier all clear the same standard. Evidence looks different in each field; the standard does not move.
Emerging members are not second class
An unverified profile is a normal profile. Many members are on their first project, and Collabbo is built for them too. The check simply carries extra weight where money and rights are involved.
Nothing is staged
No profile on Collabbo is invented to make it look busy. Where an example is shown for layout purposes it is labelled as an example.
What counts as evidence
One confirmed item from any group below is enough to start. Two make the review quick.
Credited work
- A screen, album, liner, or masthead credit that can be found on a public database or release page
- A published book, article, or catalogue entry with an ISBN, DOI, or publisher listing
- A release on a licensed distribution or streaming platform under your name or your registered alias
- A public channel, podcast, or profile with a verifiable following on a major platform — YouTube, Twitch, Spotify, Substack, and the like
- A festival, award, or selection listing on the organiser website
Representation and business
- A listing on the website of an agency, management company, label, publisher, or studio
- A company registration, guild or union membership number, or professional body listing
- A work email address on a domain the company controls
Craft and crew
- Call sheets, session logs, deal memos, or contracts that show your role on a named production
- A reference from a verified member who worked with you on that production
- A portfolio hosted on a domain you control, matched to at least one of the sources above
How review works

Open your profile and add the credits, releases, links, and contact details you want checked.

Request verification. A person reads the profile and follows each source you provided.

If something cannot be confirmed, you are told which item and asked for one more source.

A decision is recorded on the profile. You can request another review at any time after new work ships.
What removes a check
- Claiming a credit, release, or client that cannot be substantiated
- Presenting another person’s work, voice, or likeness as your own
- Using the check to solicit fees, upfront payments, or investment under false pretences
- Pressuring members for materials, money, or personal contact after being asked to stop
Members can report a profile at any time. Reports are read by a person, the member is given a chance to respond, and repeated misrepresentation ends access to Collabbo.
